The Y-back Pattern is a great strappy design. Most of the design activity is in the back with the crisscrossing of the spaghetti straps that hold the bodice securely.

Elastic pull-on

As with all SS patterns, there are never any measurement for the elastic around neck, arm areas or back. I have had to fudge the elastic to make it work by using Maria Porter's guide from her book Spandex Simplified: Sewing for Skaters. (Very helpful). Since there are no markings for where to place the criss-cross string straps and the instruction diagram is not as proportionate, I decide to finish all edges with elastic first and then add the string straps. We found these string straps too short, so make them 8-10 inches long and fit them to your skater for comfort and better fit. I did not do the tulip skirt, but did a flat point roller skater skirt. I also lined the front and added bra cups Neckline is not as high as it looks on the site. It lays about 3 inches from the gullet. No need to worry about cleavage or falling out. Overall, I was pleased with the practice dress I made, but am getting to the point were for the price of the patterns....I expect more detail sewing information and markings. Without sewing knowledge, this is not for a beginner.
